Weld Tech Competencies
- Has a minimum of four years in an automotive production environment.
- Has been trained and has complete knowledge of safety lockout procedures
- Understands plant safety practices, toolbox talks, and proper PPE
- Comprehend and act on tooling faults via HMI
- Understands the communications between the robot, PLC, and HMI
- Can read Mechanical and electrical drawings
- Move robots via HMI
- Track weld guns, robots and spot numbers using the process data sheets
- Debug and alignment of light screens
- Change weld gun caps via HMI initiation to move the robot into the maintenance position
- Set weld timer schedules and recognize good welds
- Air circuit checks – Manually shift valves, adjust flow controls and replace hose if needed.
- Water circuit checks – using a water saver and flow switch indicator.
- Micro Ohm meter testing of weld gun assembly.
- Able to restart cell after lockout or maintenance activity
